Furthermore, heightened societal anti-immigrant sentiment and intensified law enforcement practices may create a “chilling effect,” pushing Latino SMM further away from facilities offering pre-exposure prophylaxis (Pr EP) and other HIV prevention services [10]. Pr EP uptake among Latino SMM is substantially lower than that among White SMM [11], with only 14% of Pr EP-eligible Latina/o/x (henceforward “Latino”) individuals being prescribed Pr EP in 2020 compared with 61% of White SMM [12].
