Of the 3684 participants screened for eligibility, 633 participants were excluded (346 declined participation and 287 did not meet eligibility criteria; Figure 2). The program started with 3051 participants, of which 2367 participants completed it, translating into a completion rate of 77.6%.

Analysis using Cramér V indicated a moderate association between the perception of agreeableness and difficulty for each task (χ24=16.5; P=.002; V=0.37, 95% CI 0.28-0.54). Further examination of the frequency distribution indicated that as tasks were perceived as more difficult, participants found them less agreeable. Figure 4 displays the difficulty (Figure 4 A) and agreeableness (Figure 4 B) perception by task.

Alpha was set at P
Sixteen participants (13 male) enrolled in this study. The average age of participants was 10.7 (SD 0.34) years. Fourteen participants identified as Caucasian and 2 identified as African American. Eight participants had prior experience playing Gorilla Tag, while 11 participants had experience playing Beat Saber. The heart rate was not collected properly for 1 participant (male); thus, this participant was not included in the HR data analysis.

For the HV, a total of 475 ultrasound scans of 326 participants were included. The data were divided over similar subsets. The development set contained 383 ultrasound scans of 261 participants acquired before 2020. The test set contained 92 ultrasound scans of 65 participants acquired before 2020. The future test set contained 80 ultrasound scans of 58 participants acquired in 2020.

The scoping review protocol has been registered on the Open Science Framework Registries [30] and was guided by and reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Protocols (PRISMA-P) [31]. The completed PRISMA-P checklist can be found in Multimedia Appendix 1. The results of the scoping review will be reported using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-Sc R) checklist [32].
