Patient Experiences and Insights on Chronic Ocular Pain: Social Media Listening Study

Patient Experiences and Insights on Chronic Ocular Pain: Social Media Listening Study

Of them, 27 consulted an ophthalmologist; 25 consulted an eye, retina, or cornea specialist; 21 consulted a doctor (unspecified specialty); 15 consulted an optometrist; and 14 consulted an optician. Others consulted a neurologist, neuro-ophthalmologist, eye clinic or eye surgeon, otorhinolaryngologists, etc. When the HCP consulted was mentioned (158 patients), the majority of the related comments (n=123) were negative.

Short-Wavelength Light–Blocking Filters and Oral Melatonin Administration in Patients With Retinitis Pigmentosa: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

Short-Wavelength Light–Blocking Filters and Oral Melatonin Administration in Patients With Retinitis Pigmentosa: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

RP affects mainly the outer retina, but in the final stages of the disease, atrophy and damage ultimately affect the inner retina, including retinal ganglion cells [7]. Intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells (ip GCs) constitute a special type of photoreceptors within the retina that contain the melanopsin photopigment [8,9].

Screening Diabetic Retinopathy Using an Automated Retinal Image Analysis System in Independent and Assistive Use Cases in Mexico: Randomized Controlled Trial

Screening Diabetic Retinopathy Using an Automated Retinal Image Analysis System in Independent and Assistive Use Cases in Mexico: Randomized Controlled Trial

The limited access to ophthalmologists and retina specialists at primary care clinics, due to financial and staff limitations at national health care institutions, precludes the continuous monitoring of diabetic patients in low- and middle-income countries such as Mexico. In Mexico, DR is a leading cause of irreversible blindness among the working-age population [4,13].

Gender Prediction for a Multiethnic Population via Deep Learning Across Different Retinal Fundus Photograph Fields: Retrospective Cross-sectional Study

Gender Prediction for a Multiethnic Population via Deep Learning Across Different Retinal Fundus Photograph Fields: Retrospective Cross-sectional Study

This is worth exploring because the retina possesses features that can be affected by gender differences (eg, vessel structure; optic nerve, fovea, and macular morphology; and retinal pigmentation). Different fundus photography fields (optic disc–centered, macula-centered, and peripheral fields) capture these features to varying extents and affect these features’ availability in a neural network.
