A Community Mental Health Integrated Disaster Preparedness Intervention for Bushfire Recovery in Rural Australian Communities: Protocol for a Multimethods Feasibility and Acceptability Pilot Study

A Community Mental Health Integrated Disaster Preparedness Intervention for Bushfire Recovery in Rural Australian Communities: Protocol for a Multimethods Feasibility and Acceptability Pilot Study

The predicted rise in frequency and intensity of extreme weather events underscores the importance of disaster preparation and resilience. Australia has been assessed as currently having a “moderate” level of resilience, with “low” resilience in many rural areas [1], underscoring the critical need for resilience interventions in Australia. Community involvement in recovery positively impacts community resilience, and resilient communities are less vulnerable to the negative effects of natural hazards [32].

Effectiveness of a Mobile App Intervention for Preparing Preschool Children and Parents for Day Surgery: Randomized Controlled Trial

Effectiveness of a Mobile App Intervention for Preparing Preschool Children and Parents for Day Surgery: Randomized Controlled Trial

Previous research has found that insufficient preparation time is linked to higher levels of parental fear, anxiety, and stress [15]. The preparation of preschool children and their parents for day surgery should be well planned [37], sufficiently diverse [38], and timely [39], covering all the phases of perioperative care through to recovery at home [37,38].

Preparation for Quarantine on the Cruise Ship Diamond Princess in Japan due to COVID-19

Preparation for Quarantine on the Cruise Ship Diamond Princess in Japan due to COVID-19

The DMAT at the entrance of the ship was in charge of checking the preparation of the vehicles and their destination and ensuring correct transportation. At first, we transported the symptomatic patients to the designated medical institutions in that area that were equipped to handle infectious diseases. However, all the beds in Kanagawa Prefecture were soon filled, and we had to extend transportation to other places in the Kanto region.

Children’s Use of and Experiences With a Web-Based Perioperative Preparation Program: Directed Content Analysis

Children’s Use of and Experiences With a Web-Based Perioperative Preparation Program: Directed Content Analysis

Despite strong evidence that preparation of children for anesthesia and surgery reduces fear and anxiety [7,9,10], the content, design, and availability of preparation programs vary greatly [10,11]. Many children continue to report a lack of information and are forced to experience the perioperative processes unprepared [12,13].

Web-Based Learning for Children in Pediatric Care: Qualitative Study Assessing Educational Challenges

Web-Based Learning for Children in Pediatric Care: Qualitative Study Assessing Educational Challenges

Preparation for a forthcoming hospitalization is important to decrease children’s distress and anxiety for medical procedures [13,16-18]. Adequate preparation is also important to generate accurate expectations and to reduce uncertainties and inconsistencies between fantasy and reality [11,16-18]. The digital age is upon us and is, to varying degrees, integrated into everyday life in most countries around the world.
