An Automated Clinical Laboratory Decision Support System for Test Utilization, Medical Necessity Verification, and Payment Processing

An Automated Clinical Laboratory Decision Support System for Test Utilization, Medical Necessity Verification, and Payment Processing

This inappropriate testing not only leads to incorrect or delayed diagnoses but also significantly adds a financial burden on the health care system. This situation is expected to worsen as the available lab tests menu grows, especially in the areas of molecular diagnostics and genetic testing.

The Application of Machine Learning Algorithms to Predict HIV Testing in Repeated Adult Population–Based Surveys in South Africa: Protocol for a Multiwave Cross-Sectional Analysis

The Application of Machine Learning Algorithms to Predict HIV Testing in Repeated Adult Population–Based Surveys in South Africa: Protocol for a Multiwave Cross-Sectional Analysis

HIV testing is a crucial component of the HIV prevention and care continuum [3] and a pivotal step in realizing the UNAIDS’s goal of ending AIDS by 2030 [4]. It aims to diagnose and minimize HIV transmission rates while enabling early and effective treatment. Rolling out HIV testing coverage and accessibility to populations with low HIV testing prevalence could assist in improving HIV epidemic control and elimination efforts [3-7].

Suspected Mpox Symptoms and Testing in Men Who Have Sex With Men in the United States: Cross-Sectional Study

Suspected Mpox Symptoms and Testing in Men Who Have Sex With Men in the United States: Cross-Sectional Study

Among 126 symptomatic GBMSM, 114 (90.5%) did not report mpox testing; their characteristics mirrored those of the overall sample (Table 2). mpox testing was reported by 9 participants (1%, Table 2), including 5 with reported symptoms. Most GBMSM reporting mpox testing were non-Hispanic White (7/9 vs 1 Black and 1 Hispanic or Latino man) and all 9 lived in urban areas. Most reported STI testing (8/9), 2 or more partners (8/9), CAS (7/9), and group sex (6/9) in the last 3 months.

Web-Based Respondent-Driven Sampling to Assess Biobehavioral Factors Among Men Who Have Sex With Men in Thailand: Cross-Sectional Study

Web-Based Respondent-Driven Sampling to Assess Biobehavioral Factors Among Men Who Have Sex With Men in Thailand: Cross-Sectional Study

Informed consent was obtained electronically, separately for the interview and biomarker testing. A copy of the consent could be downloaded by the participant. Personal identifiers, including cell phone numbers and IP addresses, were collected and converted to unique anonymous codes. All records were labeled using the e Coupon ID number. Participants could call survey staff with questions.

Understanding Users’ Engagement in a Provider-Created Mobile App for Training to Advance Hepatitis C Care: Knowledge Assessment Survey Study

Understanding Users’ Engagement in a Provider-Created Mobile App for Training to Advance Hepatitis C Care: Knowledge Assessment Survey Study

In the current DAA era, HCV viral clearance cascades continue to show significant gaps in viral testing and cure or clearance rates. Further, 1 study using private laboratory data in the United States estimated that 12% of persons in the database with evidence of HCV infection did not receive follow-up viral testing, and only 34% of those chronically infected achieved viral cure or clearance [4].

Mobile Phones and HIV Testing: Multicountry Instrumental Variable Analysis From Sub-Saharan Africa

Mobile Phones and HIV Testing: Multicountry Instrumental Variable Analysis From Sub-Saharan Africa

To increase the capacity of governments to correctly identify HIV-infected individuals and therefore reduce the spreading of the virus, standard HIV-testing facilities and awareness-raising campaigns are being paired with alternative methods such as community-based testing, self-test kits, and point-of-care testing for early infants [3].

Association of a Novel Electronic Form for Preoperative Cardiac Risk Assessment With Reduction in Cardiac Consultations and Testing: Retrospective Cohort Study

Association of a Novel Electronic Form for Preoperative Cardiac Risk Assessment With Reduction in Cardiac Consultations and Testing: Retrospective Cohort Study

Inappropriate cardiac testing or cardiology referrals are considered low-value care because they rarely change perioperative management, cause surgical delays, and increase costs [5-12]. Low-value preoperative cardiac stress testing is estimated to cost US $102 to US $238 million [9]. Potential causes include nonspecific referral requests or the assumption that a cardiology consultation may decrease legal risk in the event of a postoperative cardiac complication [5,13,14].

Characteristics of and Factors Associated With Partner Service Uptake Cascade Among People With Newly Reported HIV/AIDS Diagnoses in Southeastern China in 2022: Cross-Sectional Survey

Many modalities or strategies have been implemented to expand HIV testing and improve the efficiency of HIV case-finding, including promoting couples’ voluntary HIV counseling and testing [7], providing free HIV self-testing kits for men who have sex with men (MSM) and their sexual partners [8], contact tracing, and molecular epidemiologic investigation [9,10].
