The data were sourced from the monitoring data of drug use sentinel units (eg, the Public Security Bureau’s mandatory rehabilitation centers, regulatory facilities, methadone clinics, mandatory isolation rehabilitation centers, voluntary rehabilitation centers, and detention centers) in Hangzhou from 2014 to 2021. The drug users in sentinel monitoring were not exactly the same people annually.

These sentinel sites are designated based on the provincial-level population, and they monitor community-level HFMD trends across the nation. The data acquired from the HFMD sentinel sites are collected and analyzed weekly and disseminated through weekly reports on the KDCA website (Multimedia Appendices 1 and 2) [8]. The sentinel surveillance system provides information on community-level HFMD trends to support decision-making for effective public health measures.
