We assessed symptoms suggesting mpox by asking: “In the past three months, have you had a (1: fever or 2: new rash/sores on the skin) and didn’t know the cause?” For GBMSM reporting rashes, we asked their location and pain severity (rated 0‐10), and whether, after GBMSM first noticed the rash or sores, they changed in appearance, number, or location.
We measured mpox testing by self-report.

After the latent period, symptoms such as fever, headache, lymphadenopathy, and myalgia persist for approximately 1 to 5 days, followed by the development of a rash. The eruptions often appear on the face and extremities and gradually elevate, forming bullae, pustules, crusting, and eventually heal 2 to 4 weeks after onset. The fatality rate is reported to be 0%-11% and tends to be higher in children; however, no deaths have been reported in the developed nations [11,12].

The rash can dramatically impact mothers during pregnancy and alter their experience. We hope to be able to shed some light on what information is being distributed on popular social media sites. In this study, we seek to characterize posts regarding PUPPP circulated on Instagram from the public.
