Naloxone Coprescribing and the Prevention of Opioid Overdoses: Quasi-Experimental Metacognitive Assessment of a Novel Education Initiative

Naloxone Coprescribing and the Prevention of Opioid Overdoses: Quasi-Experimental Metacognitive Assessment of a Novel Education Initiative

In 2020, of the 91,799 drug-related overdoses in the United States, 75% involved an opioid [1]. Naloxone is an invaluable tool to prevent opioid overdose [2], and coprescription initiatives (or programs to encourage providers to prescribe naloxone to patients receiving opioids) are a common, important intervention to reduce fatal overdoses.

The Use of Natural Language Processing Methods in Reddit to Investigate Opioid Use: Scoping Review

The Use of Natural Language Processing Methods in Reddit to Investigate Opioid Use: Scoping Review

To help further studies more efficiently address opioid-related research questions using social media data, we identified the different strategies used to carry out semantic analyses of opioid-related content, compiled their lists of opioid-related terms (produced either by automatic variant generator tools or by word embedding) or similar words, and curated their content, creating a refined version where the terms are aggregated by abbreviation, misspelling, variants and their misspellings, brand names and

Design and Implementation of an Opioid Scorecard for Hospital System–Wide Peer Comparison of Opioid Prescribing Habits: Observational Study

Design and Implementation of an Opioid Scorecard for Hospital System–Wide Peer Comparison of Opioid Prescribing Habits: Observational Study

The United States is in an opioid epidemic originally partially fueled by legitimate but inappropriate rates of opioid prescriptions [1-4], with additional waves associated with nonprescription opioids [5]. Reducing inappropriate opioid prescribing by health care providers is a key element of mitigating the risk of long-term opioid use and potential dependence for patients [6-10].

Public Perceptions of Treating Opioid Use Disorder With Deep Brain Stimulation: Comment Analysis Study

Public Perceptions of Treating Opioid Use Disorder With Deep Brain Stimulation: Comment Analysis Study

Many countries, including the United States, recognize the psychological, social, and economic burdens of opioid addiction [13,14]. Several of these countries have implemented preventative measures, like prescription restrictions and prescription drug monitoring programs, to minimize refractory opioid use disorder (OUD) [15,16] mortality rates [17,18].

Care Integration for Hepatitis C Virus Treatment Through Facilitated Telemedicine Within Opioid Treatment Programs: Qualitative Study

Care Integration for Hepatitis C Virus Treatment Through Facilitated Telemedicine Within Opioid Treatment Programs: Qualitative Study

Specifically, we used a facilitated telemedicine model integrated into 12 opioid treatment programs (OTPs) throughout New York State [7,8]. Facilitated telemedicine is an approach to health care delivery that combines social interactions between patients and staff (ie, case managers and clinical staff) with bidirectional videoconferencing between patients and geographically separated providers to promote trust.

Data-Driven Identification of Potentially Successful Intervention Implementations Using 5 Years of Opioid Prescribing Data: Retrospective Database Study

Data-Driven Identification of Potentially Successful Intervention Implementations Using 5 Years of Opioid Prescribing Data: Retrospective Database Study

However, there was also evidence that opioid prescribing remains a persistent public health problem in England, with higher rates of prescription in areas of higher deprivation and evidence that long-term prescribing was associated with opioid overdose and dependence.

Peer Review of “Detecting Substance Use Disorder Using Social Media Data and the Dark Web: Time- and Knowledge-Aware Study”

Peer Review of “Detecting Substance Use Disorder Using Social Media Data and the Dark Web: Time- and Knowledge-Aware Study”

The study proposes building an opioid drug social media knowledge graph but does not provide details on the potential impact or implications of such a graph. Need to provide the details in the manuscript. 3. The study explicitly states that it does not make any clinical diagnosis or treatment suggestions, which indicates a gap in translating the research findings into practical applications for addressing substance use disorder. Need to justify how this study will be helpful for clinical situations.

Authors’ Response to Peer Reviews of “Detecting Substance Use Disorder Using Social Media Data and the Dark Web: Time- and Knowledge-Aware Study”

Crawling crypto markets poses a significant challenge when applied to data science and machine learning to study the opioid epidemic due to the restricted crawling process. However, we made our proposed data set available to the research community for further analysis. 2. The study proposes building an opioid drug social media knowledge graph (ODSM-KG) but does not provide details on the potential impact or implications of such a graph. Need to provide the details in the manuscript.
