Perceptions and Experiences of Caregiver-Employees, Employers, and Health Care Professionals With Caregiver-Friendly Workplace Policy in Hong Kong: Thematic Analysis

However, free-market neoliberalism has failed Hong Kong in terms of increasing social inequality [28,29], leaving the economically and socially vulnerable even more susceptible to discrimination and unfair treatment. In our case, the CEs care for sick older people without their dual role being recognized in the workplace.

Comparison of 3 Aging Metrics in Dual Declines to Capture All-Cause Dementia and Mortality Risk: Cohort Study

Comparison of 3 Aging Metrics in Dual Declines to Capture All-Cause Dementia and Mortality Risk: Cohort Study

To assess and compare the predictive accuracy of all models, discrimination, defined by the model’s ability to differentiate between individuals who develop dementia and those who do not, was quantified using Harrell C-statistic, taking survival into account. Several sensitivity analyses were conducted to verify the stability of our findings.

Use of ChatGPT to Explore Gender and Geographic Disparities in Scientific Peer Review

Use of ChatGPT to Explore Gender and Geographic Disparities in Scientific Peer Review

The study, limited to papers from a single journal (Nature Communications), aligns with the broader issue of gender discrimination in academic medicine [12-17]. While sentiment and politeness metrics may not directly measure bias, they serve as useful proxies for identifying potential biases in peer review. Biased reviewers may exhibit tendencies toward overly positive or negative sentiments, as well as varying levels of politeness toward authors based on factors such as gender or geographic region.

Acceptance of Social Media Recruitment for Clinical Studies Among Patients With Hepatitis B: Mixed Methods Study

An Indian survey study found that most surveyed patients with hepatitis B were subject to severe stigma and moderate to severe discrimination, with gender identification as men, unemployment, and illiteracy being predictors of discrimination [6]. Other survey studies from Australia, Turkey, and Serbia confirmed the presence of self-reported perception of stigma in 35% to 47% of patients with hepatitis B and 60% to 65% of patients with hepatitis C [10,41,42].

Creating a Modified Version of the Cambridge Multimorbidity Score to Predict Mortality in People Older Than 16 Years: Model Development and Validation

Creating a Modified Version of the Cambridge Multimorbidity Score to Predict Mortality in People Older Than 16 Years: Model Development and Validation

Model performance evaluation was based on discrimination and calibration. Discrimination was assessed by the pseudo R2, Somers D, and Harrell C [33]. Model calibration was evaluated by plotting a calibration curve and recalibration was carried out by resampling using cross-validation to correct for optimism or overfitting. This was implemented using the “calibrate” function in the rms R package.

Despite institutionalized rights, evidence suggests that the LGBTQIA+ community continues to encounter stigma, discrimination, and threats to their personal well-being [2-4]. Studies examining the experiences of gender and sexual minorities reveal that the LGBTQIA+ community often faces neglect, harassment, and substandard treatment from health care providers when seeking medical care [5,6].

Testing the Effectiveness of an Intervention to Improve Romanian Teachers’ LGBT+-Related Attitudes, Cognitions, Behaviors, and Affect: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

Much of this discrimination and harassment happens in schools for young people, with 44% of LGBT+ students (15-17 years of age) in Romania saying they are hiding being LGBT+ at school, a rate that is 3 to 4 times higher than in countries such as Luxembourg (11%), the Netherlands (16%), or Malta (17%).
