This study examined a novel approach for the assessment of the direct association between individuals’ weekly step goal success and real-time self-efficacy using our cellphone app. One notable finding of the study was that individuals who met weekly step goals were more likely to be self-efficacious about meeting weekly step goals for the upcoming week, even after controlling for potential confounding factors. A potential explanation for this finding is related to the sources of self-efficacy.
