Characterizing Awareness of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis for HIV Prevention in Manila and Cebu, Philippines: Web-Based Survey of Filipino Cisgender Men Who Have Sex With Men

We adapted 3 items on Pr EP awareness, interest, and discussion among friends from the study by Restar et al [29]. Specifically, we asked the participants whether they had heard of Pr EP (yes or no). Regardless of their previous Pr EP awareness, all participants then received a brief educational statement about Pr EP [30]: One way to fight HIV is called Pr EP, which stands for pre‐exposure prophylaxis. Pr EP works by giving HIV‐negative people HIV drugs to keep them from getting HIV.
