Then, participants consumed a fixed liquid meal (Ensure Plus, Abbott Nutrition; 900 kcal in 660 g of fluid: 30% fat, 15% protein, and 55% carbohydrate) from –5 to 0 minutes. To capture GLP-1 and insulin responses to the fixed meal, 2 ml blood samples were drawn at +5, +15, and +30 minutes. Momentary ratings were completed immediately before each blood draw.

Patients will complete surveys at baseline, 6, 12, and 18 months. Baseline surveys were collected at training and setup, and subsequent surveys will be mailed to patients with a return stamped envelope. Participants are encouraged to contact the study staff if questions arise. All 4 surveys will assess primary and secondary outcomes using the measures detailed above.
