We developed an extract-transform-load (ETL) process, a data integration method that involves extracting data from its original source, transforming it into a suitable format, and loading it into a target system. This process transforms o BDS XML-data to HL7 FHIR resources [41]. This component reads single o BDS XML-reports from an Apache Kafka topic, maps them to FHIR resources of the oncology FHIR model developed by Lambarki et al [42] and publishes the results to another Apache Kafka topic.

The creation of a trauma-informed codevelopment space was crucial to facilitate safer and more open discussions. To accomplish this, we established a parallel, intervention refinement process using a helical structure developed by this team and based on our prior research with structural indicators for community-based participatory action research [33]. As shown in Figure 2, the “hand off” of work drives an iterative (helical) thinking process.

The CDS alert system uses a native, rule-based logic system within Epic called the Best Practice Advisory (BPA). To avoid confusion in terminology, we refer to the “BPA” as the specific alert that fires for a given patient with a given culprit medication; we refer to “CDS” as the system as a whole, including those in whom the BPA did not fire due to not meeting criteria.

The International Organization for Standardization describes usability as “the extent to which a system, product or service can be used by specified users to achieve specified goals with effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction in a specified context of use” [1]. Usability testing is a method in which a product is evaluated by users as they perform tasks, and may include formative or summative testing [2].

To enhance recruitment, a home testing option is provided, allowing families to conveniently perform finger-prick testing and data collection at home.
After screening results are available, a research physician reviews the findings. Participants who test positive for islet autoantibodies are invited to a follow-up visit that includes personalized counseling, targeted educational interventions, and additional metabolic staging to determine their T1 D stage.

We included 274 TGD participants from the US transgender population health survey (Trans Pop), a national probability sample of gender diverse adults in the United States that was conducted from 2016 to 2018, which is publicly available [57]. Probability sampling approaches were used to enhance diversity and representativeness of the sample [58] (see Krueger et al [59] for further methodological details on the original study).

For example, medical students completing an online module on a basic science topic may be confident in their ability to learn but struggle to see the value in the material beyond their next examination. Conversely, students completing a virtual examination with a standardized patient may see the value in what they are learning but not feel confident in their ability to succeed.

Data saturation—a point where no new themes or insights emerge—can often be achieved with 6‐12 interviews, depending on the study’s scope and participant homogeneity [43]. In this study, combining focus groups and individual interviews ensured a rich dataset that captured a range of perspectives while adhering to the principle of saturation.

The aim of this study is to develop risk calculators that best predict (1) a mother’s risk of having a neonate with abnormal fetal growth (large for gestational age [LGA] or small for gestational age [SGA]); (2) a mother’s risk of having a serious adverse neonatal outcome; and (3) a mother’s risk of developing new metabolic disease after pregnancy (Figure 1).

A total of 258,621 admissions occurred during the study period, and 92,845 had an elevated e CART score. Of these, for 21,817 admissions, a chest radiograph was obtained within 48 hours of the time of the elevated score and was included in the analysis (Figure 1). The characteristics of the final cohort are presented in Table 1. The patients in the final cohort had a median age of 63 (IQR 52-74) years, with a higher likelihood of being male (56.1%, 12,249/21,817); 5.7% were black (1252/21,187).
